In Commemoration of this Year’s International Youth Day, EVA in collaboration with the Benue State University Centre for Gender Studies with funding from the African Women Development Fund organized a symposium tagged Safe Learning Environment towards a Sustainable Future.

The event brought together students, lecturers, and other university staff. At the symposium, the representative of the University’s Vice Chancellor reiterated the University’s commitment to ensuring that the university is safe and free from any form of harassment for students to thrive.

We leveraged the symposium to advocate for a safer campus through a photo exhibition of stories collected on harassment that students had faced at BSU.

Through EVA and the Centre of Gender Studies work in the University, the University sexual harassment policy has been reviewed and the University management has constituted a committee to review the final draft.

We would continue to work in partnership with Universities to see that schools are safe for learning.
