Nigeria recently hosted its inaugural HIV Prevention Conference in Abuja, emphasising the crucial role of prevention in combating the disease. The event, themed “Accelerating HIV Prevention to End AIDS through Innovations and Community Engagement,” brought together stakeholders to discuss innovative strategies and community-driven approaches. We participated in the conference, contributing to panel discussions and activities recognizing the transformative power of youths in HIV prevention. Following the theme of the conference, the #UnitedForPrevention Coalition, driven by Education as a Vaccine and supported by Frontline AIDS and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, hosted a session titled “Community perspectives on accelerating progress towards 2025 HIV prevention targets through strategic implementation of the National Prevention Plan-sponsored session”. The session explored the role of digital technology and community innovations in driving change in HIV prevention for young people. By harnessing digital solutions, we can amplify impact and accelerate progress.
We are also excited to announce the launch of the HCV-HEPCIII project, aimed at implementing harm reduction initiatives across the country. To mark the beginning of this journey, we convened the inaugural meeting of the National Steering Committee, bringing together key stakeholders to collaborate towards a common goal.
