On February 10th and 11th, representatives from all EVA’s seven field offices and headquarters converged in Abuja for a planning workshop. The two day workshop was part of the process of developing a new 5 year strategy for the organization. Twenty-five staff worked together to review progress made in meeting the objective outlined in the 2010-2015 strategy, while also identifying challenges, opportunities and threats.
The Executive Director stated: “this meeting is an opportunity for us as a team and family to look at what we have done in the past five years. We will bring out the achievements not just in terms of numbers of children, adolescents and young people we have served, but also the qualitative achievements that are not usually written in reports. Just as important, we must also reflect on what we have not done well, so we don’t make the same mistakes again”.
“The review meeting went well according to plan. We were able to really identify the challenges we faced with meeting our targets for the past years. But what was really interesting is the exercise we did on how we see EVA in the next five years. We could see also of similarities in the ideas that were presented by different staff”. -Solomon Ogwuche, program coordinator, Benue field office
This workshop is one of the first activities in the process of developing a new strategy for 2017-2022. Plans are already in the way to have a visioning workshop and stakeholder’s consultation meeting, which will include adolescents and young people, in April this year.
