We launched a radio program called “Gender Equality” with funding from the Ambassade de France au Nigéria – French Embassy in Nigeria on a project promoting gender equality and equitable communities.

The Radio talk show aims to promote equal rights and fair treatment for everyone in society, particularly women and young girls, one conversation at a time.

Each episode has three segments: an introduction and sponsor acknowledgment, a story between the host and a guest who is an EVA representative, interaction, and a phone in session with the audience.

Beyond radio programming, we engage men and boys in communities leveraging on their influence as fathers, leaders, decision-makers, and as role models to challenge negative gender norms that lead to all forms of inequalities.

We also train community-based champions as first responders of GBV cases in their immediate communities; they will also promote gender equality and positive masculinity amongst their peers.

We believe that conversations like this are the first steps toward closing the gender inequality gap. And to sensitize a broader audience, we are using radio, the most cost-effective and widely used mode of communication in rural areas.

The first episode of the program premiered at 7:00 pm on January, 21, 2021.
The program airs on Armed Forces Radio 107.7, Abuja, every Tuesday at 7:00 pm and Fridays at 8:00 pm and every Tuesday and Friday at 11:00 am on Maloney FM 95.9 FM in Keffi Nassarawa State.
Endeavor to participate in the discussion on radio.
