Policy Brief, Voices From The Hall: Exploring the Role of University-Based Gender Centres in Responding to SGV and Advancing Gender Equality in Nigeria
Gender Centres in Nigerian universities have proven pivotal in reshaping institutional cultures and promoting gender equity, yet their transformative potential remains under-realized. Achieving sustainable progress requires leadership-driven policy enforcement, survivor-centred justice, adequate resourcing, and strengthened community linkages. By institutionalizing gender governance and extending impact beyond campuses, Nigerian universities can become models of inclusive education and agents of social transformation—advancing national commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals and the Revised National Gender Policy (2021–2026).
