Celebrating EVA At 20
Since EVA’s establishment in 2000, our goal has remained a Nigeria where children, adolescents, and young people reach their full potential. Each year, we reach children, adolescents, and young using child and youth-friendly approaches to strengthen capacities, provide direct services, and influence policies for improved quality of life.
This year 2020 EVA celebrated its 20th anniversary. As we marked 20 years of EVA, we launched a 7 days “#20YearsofEVA” campaign from the 18th-24th of December to celebrate our history, journey and share stories of impact and change. We also recognized the commitment and generosity of our partners and donors who make our work possible.
We hosted our co-founder Fadekemi Akinfaderin-Agarau and founding board member Chinelo-Dike Minor to an Instagram Live session themed 20 Years: Reflections from How It Started. The inspiration and motivation behind the establishment were discussed. The session was full of stories and lessons learned in the past 20 years.
We are not done yet. Come 2021 as part of our celebration, we will launch a youth advocacy academy to support meaningful youth participation and engagement at local, state, national, regional, and global levels. We will be recognizing 20 champions aged 15-24 years across Nigeria who have contributed to promoting adolescents and young people’s (AYP) sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). They will be empowered with tools to further their advocacy around AYP’s SRHR at the global, regional, national, state, and local level.
