HAPPY is a fitting acronym for the HIV/AIDS Prevention Project for Youth. The idea behind this project is to find innovative and interesting ways to engage out of school youth in information and services related to HIV, sexual and reproductive health and life skills.
The program uses films, peer education, quizzes, discussions, and drama to involve youth in learning in a fun and informative way. HAPPY will help a minimum of 5000 out-of-school youths increase their knowledge of positive HIV prevention practices, improve life skills to enable HIV sexual risk reduction, including correct and consistent use of condoms and access HIV services.
The program follows guidelines set out in Nigeria’s national prevention plan and uses peer education and population awareness campaigns to promote change.
