“Young idealism paired with professional training and supervision produces meaningful results.”  EVA is working with undergraduate and graduate institutions by offering a work apprenticeship program to students and recent graduates who wish to gain practical experiences in the public health field.  EVA is looking for unique, dedicated and diverse individuals who will volunteer their time in various capacities to the organization.  This program is not limited to students with science, medical or public health backgrounds.  Individuals with a strong interest in education, HIV/AIDS, youth issues and non-profit management are encouraged to apply for the program.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • All applicants must currently be enrolled in a four-year undergraduate institution or hold a minimum of a bachelor degree.
  • All applicants must be willing to commit a minimum of nine weeks to the program
  • All applicants must be willing to travel abroad for the program, although US based programs are available.
  • All applicants must be willing to financially support themselves through personal funds or by applying to grant institutions for funding.  Partial assistance may be available for full year program applicants only.
  • All applicants must be hard working and be prepared to work with young people and HIV positive persons.

TIMELINE

SUMMER PROGRAM JUNE 3RD TO AUGUST 5TH (9 weeks) 
Graduate/Public Health students have the opportunity to work in all areas of interest, undergraduate students are limited to the Care for person living with HIV (Positive Living) program, Youth AIDS Service (YAS), Youth Health Initiative (YHI) and community outreach programs.

Week 1: Training/Orientation
Week 2 - 8: Work Period
Week 9: Evaluation/Final Reports
Applications are due March 14th
FALL PROGRAM SEPTEMBER 2ND TO DECEMBER 8TH (14 weeks)
Participants in this program have the opportunity to work in all areas of interest.
Week 1& 2: Training/Orientation
Week 3-13: Work Period
Week 14: Evaluation/Final Reports
Applications are due June 14th
SPRING PROGRAM JANUARY 28TH –MAY 6TH (14 weeks)
Participants in this program have the opportunity to work in all areas of interest.

Applications are due October 14th
FULL YEAR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM: 
EVA also has a full year program for all interested individuals who are seeking for volunteer opportunities in the United States and Nigeria including recent graduates.
 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
All interested applicants should review the following materials and complete the
printable application.  Completed applications should be mailed to the US postal address listed on the contact pageAll applications should be accompanied with two (2) referee letters (one academic/professional and the other can be personal), a transcript and essays.  Applications are reviewed through out the year for each program.  Deadlines for submission will be 2 months before program begins(see program timeline for details) .  All successful applicants will be notified of acceptance into the program 2-3 weeks after the deadline.
