Program Units ADVOCACY This unit was created to raise stakeholders’ consciousness on young people’s health and development issues and to act as a liaison to youth gatekeepers, government agencies and civil society groups. Since the unit’s creation in 2004, our activities have focused on key issues emanating from EVA’s field work. Our 2005-2009 strategic plan advocacy issues are (1) eliminating barriers to the implementation of the electronic version of the Family Life and HIV/AIDS Education Program (eFLHE); (2) strengthening the provision of educational support for orphans and vulnerable children, and (3) improving the sexual and reproductive health of Nigeria’s youth by advocating for adequate implementation of ASRH policies with meaningful involvement of young people.
Our Goal: An enabling environment created for the implementation and utilization of youth reproductive health and HIV/AIDS programs.
Our Strategic Objectives:
Our Ongoing Projects: International ‘Youth Speak Out’ Project
SERVICE DELIVERY This unit strives to increase young people’s access to reproductive health and HIV&AIDS services. The unit has been in operation since the founding of EVA; initially, our activities focused primarily on creating linkages with health facilities, providing sexual health counseling to young people and making referrals for reproductive health services and HIV testing. But since 2004, our scope has expanded significantly beyond making referrals to also include the direct provision of reproductive health and HIV services to young people through our youth-friendly center and mobile HIV testing outreach events.
Our Goal: Increased access and use of youth reproductive health and HIV/AIDS services
